Central government's ambitious NH-17 expansion project passing through Goa is in limbo. Acquisition proceedings to acquire land admeasuring 17.78 lakh sq mts along the Polem-Patradevi stretch of the highway will lapse on Monday, informed officials attached to the city-based land acquisition office.
As per requirements, it was mandatory for the Centre to notify Section 3-D of the National Highways Act within one year of notifying Section 3-A of the Act. But, land acquisition officials here say that the acquisition proceedings have hit a block with the basic question of highway alignment not been addressed by the State and Central government till date.
